Job Summary: elle cuisine is a rapidly growing food and event management company. We are looking for talented and experienced catering chefs who are passionate about cooking for various types of events, both big and small. The ideal candidate is a natural leader and communicator who can confidently enter a client’s private home and offer exceptional service. Professionalism and exercising discretion are an absolute must. The chef will have experience working in private-home and unfamiliar kitchen environments and a successful track record to prove it. The chef will also be required to delegate tasks to line cooks/prep chefs for larger events as required. The chef will liaise with sales coordinators and clients to ensure the best possible client experience. The chef must be flexible with work schedules for pre-, during, and post-event activities. Our home base is at 90 Industry Street, with events taking place across Toronto and the GTA. Access to company vehicles is provided. Responsibilities & Duties: · Execute food service in a professional, accurate & timely manner when on site in a client’s home or space. · Quality food presentation. · Problem-solve and adapt as needed due to unforeseen or unanticipated factors while maintaining a calm demeanor. · Confer with clients to determine their preferences/timing management of courses, and manage expectations. · Quickly familiarizing oneself to the kitchen environment they will work in. · Cleaning and sanitizing work areas before and after meal preparation · Set up and tear down is part of the job. Lifting and transporting bins of equipment and food is required. · Long hours of standing work. · Must always exercise complete discretion and maintain confidentiality. · Pre- and Post-event activities: packing & unpacking Qualifications & Skills: · At least 2 years of private chef experience · G-level driver’s license · Clean criminal record · Food Handler’s Certificate · Proven culinary experience – send us a portfolio if you have one · Food presentation and plating techniques · Sound knowledge of different cuisines as well as food health and safety regulations · Excellent organizational and time management skills · Effective communication skills · Exceptional customer service skills – must be service-oriented and able to handle difficult situations in a professional and calm solution-minded manner · Detail-oriented · Highly self-motivated and engaged, fueled with a passion for food excellence and continuous improvement. · Polished and well-groomed professional appearance. Salary & Benefits: · Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. · Benefits available after successful 3-month probationary period (for full time).
